I’m just avoiding for the moment because there is work to do and things to get done before we have our small family Christmas tomorrow and then head out to see the extended family. The list to get ready to go is long but the list of worky type things to finish is staring at me. I just have a phone call to make and two packages to get ready and ship so I cuold be done in less than 2 hours if I would get moving. (Story of my life).

But the gifts are wrapped and ready to open or pack in the car tomorrow. I just need to pack my clothes and ply another skein and organize the knitting projects I’ll take. I planned to make this hat for Ryan but I made the yarn too thick and so I will make him a hat with the too thick yarn that is just plain old ribby. I will spin new yarn for the Savory Knitting hat when we get back.

The skein that needs to be plied is for a cardigan designed for me by Amy King. I will have four 325 yard skeins then and that should last the trip. The cardigan isn’t available yet but while you wait you could choose to spin and knit for this.  I love that shawl and wear it a lot.

Anyway, I wanted to post here a couple of personal spinning wheels I’m selling. One is my 24 inch Schacht-Reeves.

It’s cherry and double treadle and I promise to dust it before I send it to you. I’ve had this wheel for many years. It was the third wheel I bought for myself and I really love it but I spin on my 30″ saxony more and so this one should find a place where she will be loved and appreciated.

Here’s her serial number tag.

She comes with the original kate and 3 bobbins just like she came to me…except darker. I love the light stripe on her bench. I just think she is beautiful. This wheel sells right now for $1469 new. I am asking $1200 for her including professional packing and shipping to the continental US. If you live somewhere else and want her we can work it out.

The other one looking for a new home is my 17″ Reeves Saxony in Oak. I’ve had this one for many years too. The last owner was an aggressive cleaner and so the signature is almost gone from under the bench.

This girl is single treadle but that never made a difference to me.

She comes with the Lazy Kate, 4 bobbins and 3 whorls.

Isn’t she pretty?  I’m asking $900 for this wheel. That includes professional packing and shipping to anywhere in the continental US. If you are anywhere else, again, let me know and we’ll figure it out.

And one last thought. I needed a knitting project to take along to England that wouldn’t tax my too much. I also need to use up some of that Socks That Rock yarn that’s laying around. I chose Akimbo by Stephen West. it was good for knitting in the car and on the plane on the way home. I started it my first night in England when Bex took me to her Knit Night and I had my first fish and chips of the trip.

I love this little shawl. It’s just shoulder size but stays nicely around the neck because of the shaping.

Yay! Sock yarn!

OK. off to finish the work and then pack! merry Christmas and Happy New Year to all of you!
